Wish Kid "Super Cooper" in his cape

Super Cooper’s Superhero Wish

Some kids dream of meeting their favorite superheroes—but Cooper wished to become one.

Diagnosed with leukemia at just three years old, Cooper endured grueling treatments while holding onto his love for superheroes. When it came time to make his wish, he didn’t just want to meet a hero—he wanted to be one and take on a mission of his own.

On his wish day, “Super Cooper” sprang into action to stop the Florida Bandit, a mischievous villain causing trouble throughout the state. With quick thinking, ninja-like agility, and the support of the Central Florida community, Cooper successfully saved the day, proving that even the smallest heroes have the biggest hearts.

Cooper’s wish wasn’t just about dressing up as a superhero—it was about stepping into a role that reflected his own bravery, resilience, and fighting spirit. His one-of-a-kind wish brought a community together, creating an unforgettable experience that made him the true hero of the day.

Wish Kid Amelia next to large tortoise at Miami Zoo

Amelia’s Zookeeper Wish

At just three years old, Amelia was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL), a challenging journey that brought her active life to a halt. But throughout her treatment, Amelia’s love for animals remained a constant source of joy, inspiring her unique wish: to become a zookeeper for a day.

On her special day, Amelia, dressed in a custom zookeeper outfit, was welcomed at Zoo Miami for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience. She fed giraffes, petted a sloth, and enjoyed a private elephant demonstration. The highlight was a chimpanzee-hosted party, complete with a personalized banner and a finger-painted gift from a chimp named Samantha.

This extraordinary day provided Amelia and her family with cherished memories, offering a beacon of hope during a challenging time. Amelia’s wish exemplifies the transformative power of aligning a child’s passions with their dreams, creating a uniquely personal and uplifting experience.

Wish Kid Nakeem engaging in Revolutionary War reenactment

Nakeem’s Revolutionary Wish

While many teenagers enjoy modern hobbies, Nakeem has a profound passion for history, particularly the Revolutionary War era. Diagnosed with Stage 2 sarcoidosis at a young age, Nakeem found solace in historical tales and aspired to experience a Revolutionary War battlefield firsthand.

In April 2022, Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida brought Nakeem’s unique wish to life. His journey began in Colonial Williamsburg, where he was immersed in 18th-century American life. The highlight was at Mount Vernon, George Washington’s estate, where Nakeem donned a period military uniform and participated in a reenactment, complete with drumming lessons and battlefield drills. He was even enlisted into the 1st Virginia Regiment and received a commemorative coin, marking his transformation into a true patriot.

Nakeem’s wish was not just a historical reenactment; it was a profound connection to a time he deeply admired, offering him an unforgettable experience that honored his resilience and passion.

Ashley’s Athletic Wish

Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at just nine months old, Ashley grew up determined not to let her condition define her. But in high school, her health took a serious turn, and the once vibrant and active teen found herself spending more time in hospitals than on the field. As her world became filled with treatments and uncertainty, Make-A-Wish stepped in to give her something no doctor or medicine could—hope.

Ashley’s love for sports led her to wish to be an athletic trainer for the Carolina Panthers, an experience that reignited her passion and gave her a renewed sense of purpose. On her wish day, she stepped onto the field, ran drills, assisted with physical therapy, and worked alongside professional athletes. More than just an exciting day, it was a pivotal moment—one that reminded her of everything she was capable of.

Ashley’s wish didn’t just give her an unforgettable experience—it gave her a vision for her future. Inspired by the impact Make-A-Wish had on her life, she now stays involved by hosting the Wishmaker’s Ball in Orlando, helping ensure more children get the same life-changing experience she did.

Officer Stone in riding in toy police car

Stone’s Police Officer Wish

Before he was even born, Stone was diagnosed with renal hypoplasia, a condition where the kidneys don’t develop properly. This led to ongoing dialysis and additional health challenges, including rickets, which required leg surgery. Despite these hurdles, Stone’s resilience shone through.

In July 2022, a turning point came when Stone received a kidney transplant from his father, bringing newfound energy and vitality. With this renewed spirit, Stone’s interests shifted towards law enforcement, igniting his wish to become a police officer.

In April 2024, Stone’s dream became a reality. Dressed in a custom police uniform, Stone was sworn in by Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith. His day was filled with action-packed adventures, including apprehending a “dog-napper” and participating in operations with the SWAT team and K9 units. To honor his bravery, Stone was presented with his very own customized police car.

Stone’s wish exemplifies the transformative power of aligning a child’s passions with their dreams, creating a uniquely personal and uplifting experience.

Abby’s Reunion Wish

Before her diagnosis, Abby was an active teenager who loved riding her bike, climbing trees, and spending time with friends. But everything changed when she suddenly fell ill, losing control of her legs and experiencing an irregular heartbeat. It took a team of skilled physicians to diagnose her with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare and complex condition that has dramatically impacted her daily life.

Living with a chronic illness has been an isolating experience for Abby. Home schooling has limited her social interactions, and few people truly understand the challenges she faces. But through an online support group, she met Haley, a girl who shares the same diagnosis and, more importantly, understands her struggles in a way no one else could. Their friendship quickly became a lifeline and the two were “virtually” inseparable!

When it came time to choose her wish, Abby knew there was only one thing that could truly bring her joy—meeting Haley in person. Thanks to Make-A-Wish, the two best friends finally embraced for the first time and set off on the ultimate adventure together at Walt Disney World.

More than just a vacation, Abby’s wish was about the power of friendship. Make-A-Wish brought these “soul sisters” together, proving that the strongest connections can withstand any distance—and that sometimes, the best medicine is simply being with someone who understands.

Elise’s Wedding Wish

Elise was full of life—a young woman with a radiant personality, surrounded by loving friends and family. She and her boyfriend, Jacob, had big dreams for their future—traveling the world, starting a family, and growing old together. Their love was strong, and their bond only deepened when Elise was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Through months of grueling chemotherapy, Elise clung to hope. One of the things that gave her strength was knowing she had a Make-A-Wish experience ahead of her, something to look forward to in the midst of her fight. Then, on Valentine’s Day, Jacob proposed, determined to spend whatever time they had left together as husband and wife.

Elise’s wish was simple yet profound—to marry the love of her life. In just three days, Make-A-Wish turned that dream into reality, helping her pick out a wedding dress, a ring, a venue, and every detail of the ceremony. It was a beautiful, love-filled day, surrounded by those who cared for her most.

Though her cancer continued to spread, Elise and Jacob’s wedding gave them the priceless gift of time together. From that day forward, Jacob remained by her side, providing love and comfort through her final days. Their love story, though far too short, became a testament to the power of love, resilience, and making every moment count.
