What Is World Wish Month?

It all started on a single day in 1980, when a 7-year-old boy named Chris Greicius—who was battling leukemia—received his wish to become a police officer for a day. This single wish was not only the inspiration behind World Wish Month, it was the beginning of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Today, Make-A-Wish operates in nearly 50 countries, granting thousands of life-changing wishes each year for children with critical illnesses. And what began as a single wish has now blossomed into a celebration that lasts for the entire month of April.

The global movement culminates on April 29—World Wish Day—the anniversary of Chris’s wish, which serves as a reminder of how a single act of kindness can create a ripple effect of hope and healing.

But wishes don’t happen without the support of the community. By getting involved this April, you can help bring even more dreams to life for local Wish Kids. Here’s how you can celebrate World Wish Month in Orlando and make an impact.
