Here are six Make-A-Wish volunteer opportunities that you can be a part of today!

 

Since 1994, Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida has helped transform the lives of more than 7,000 critically ill children.

And our amazing community of volunteers plays an instrumental role at each step in that journey—from making a wish to finally seeing it come true.

As one of the best children’s charities in Orlando, Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida offers multiple ways for you to give back to deserving children in your community. Here are six ways that you can be a Make-A-Wish volunteer.

 

1. Welcome Calls

For our Wish Kids, there are few moments better than getting the call that they’re going to have a wish granted. As a Welcome Call Volunteer, you can be the lucky person on the other end of the phone!

If you love being able to make someone’s day, this could be the perfect volunteer opportunity.

 

2. Wish Discovery

While many children know exactly what to wish for, others need a little help narrowing down their options. As a Wish Granter/Discovery Volunteer, you can encourage these incredible children to dream big and find their ideal wish.

Both your training and the Discovery meetings take place virtually, so there are no geographical limitations.

After choosing a child from our online portal, Wish Granter/Discovery Volunteers meet with our future Wish Kids to talk about their favorite things, learn about any physical restrictions, and formulate three potential wishes.

3. Wish Enhancement

For those who want their Make-A-Wish volunteer opportunity to be a bit more “hands-on,” consider being a Wish Granter/Enhancement Volunteer.

In this role, you get to plan a party to let our Wish Kids know which of their wishes is going to be granted! Using information gathered during the Wish Discovery step, this is your first chance to curate a special day that is all about them.

Afterwards, you’ll also have a hand granting their wish!

Whether they wished for a shopping spree, a trip to Disney, or a custom movie room, you’ll be a fundamental part of keeping the magic alive.

 

4. Event Volunteer

Whether it’s our Walk For Wishes, the Wish-A-Thon, or our signature gala the Wishmaker’s Ball, fundraising events make everything we do possible.

As an Events Volunteer, you will be instrumental at helping us create successful events that contribute to our fundraising goals.

From checking in guests to answering phones during our Wish-A-Thon, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities available!

5. Skill Sharing

Make-A-Wish volunteers with a specialized skill set are always needed! As a Skill-Based Volunteer, you’ll have the chance to put your professional experience to use for a great cause.

Whether your skills lie in writing, graphic design, photography, landscaping, carpentry, or another area entirely, you’ll be helping fulfill wishes from deserving children in your community.

 

6. Office Volunteer

Prefer to work in a more “behind the scenes” role? We have opportunities for you, too!

Our Office Volunteers are essential for creating the unforgettable experiences that Make-A-Wish is known for. Write a note to our Wish families or help create Enhancement materials for upcoming wishes.
