Support Make-A-Wish With the New Disney License Plate!

Florida has more than 100 specialty license plate designs, celebrating everything from our diverse marine life to our favorite universities. Now, Florida drivers have a new option to choose from.

In September of last year, Disney released a newly redesigned specialty plate that directly benefits Make-A-Wish® Central and Northern Florida.

So far, more than 40,000 cars are sporting this plate and helping grant the wishes of critically ill children throughout the region.

How Do Specialty Plates Work?

The unique designs of Florida’s specialty license plates celebrate a wide variety of interests, but they aren’t just about adding some personality to your vehicle. Specialty plates also raise money for some very important causes.

When you purchase a specialty license plate, a small annual fee (typically around $25) goes directly to a charitable organization, such as Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.

With more than 100 designs to choose from, it’s no surprise that specialty license plates help raise millions of dollars each year.

The Disney License Plate

In 2021, Walt Disney World issued a specialty license plate to celebrate the park’s 50th anniversary. But last year, the plate got a new design.

The Disney license plate features the classic silhouette of Cinderella’s castle, surrounded by a sparkling swirl of stars. Each purchase will continue to benefit Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida in our goal to grant a wish to every eligible child.

To date, the plates have raised more than $2 million, allowing us to grant roughly 250 wishes!

Making Magic

Since it first opened in 1971, Walt Disney World has been committed to creating magic for children and their families, a goal that meshes perfectly with Make-A-Wish’s mission.

As the largest wish granter in the world, Disney not only contributes to Make-A-Wish financially, they host thousands of critically ill children from all over the world, helping to transform their biggest wishes into reality.

Now, through the Disney license plates, they will continue to raise money as well as awareness for one of Orlando’s best charities for children.

How To Get One

To purchase a Disney specialty plate, Florida residents can make an appointment at their local Tax Collector’s Office or Florida license plate agency (DMV). Specialty plates are available for first-time registration as well as license plate renewals.

You can also purchase the specialty plate for a friend or family member by purchasing a gift certificate. The recipient does not need to have the gift certificate present to redeem it, just their Florida-issued driver’s license.

Make Wishes Come True

Since 1994, Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida has granted more than 7,000 wishes, giving critically ill children the strength to overcome their illness.

By purchasing a Disney license plate, you’ll be joining thousands of other Floridians to make a difference in the lives of some incredible kids. But that’s not the only way to lend your support.

Regular donations, volunteering, and even attending one of our many events throughout the year helps us reach our goal of granting wishes to every eligible child. Get connected to learn more.
